    My thoughts on Ric Flair

Friday, September 5, 2008, 05:49 PM EST [My thoughts on...]

Go to fullsize imageGo to fullsize imageGo to fullsize image

Here is another installment of "my thoughts".  And today I am talking about Ric Flair from a request of a friend of mine.  Ric Flair is known as the best wrestler that has ever set foot inside a wrestling ring.  Ric Flair is a sixteen time world heavyweight champion, the most that someone had ever got to.  Maybe the biggest achievement or the biggest thing people will remember in Ric Flair's historic career is his title wins.  Ric started in the promotion NWA and got most of his world heavyweight titles there.  He was part of the biggest stable called "The Four Horse Men".  He later went to WCW and was there through thick and thin.  He also won world titles there too.  He faced Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Sting, Dusty Rhodes, and many, many other great performers.  He faced almost every single star of his time.  He also ran the backstage side of WCW.  After WCW went to its ultimate demise, Ric came to WWE.  He brought his legacy there and preformed some more things to make his career bigger and better.  He became GM, fought for the best stable of the time that sparked two future stars of this business. He was in Evolution and partnered up with HHH, Randy Orton, and Batista.  He is called "the dirtiest player in the game" and is called the "nature boy".  My thoughts on this great superstar is this, simply he is one of the greatest stars in professional wrestling history.  He has certainly accomplished historic, monumental heights that maybe no one could recreate.  I said in another "My thoughts on" blog about HHH and that he can beat Ric flair's championship record.  He is at 12 and only needs four to tie it.  Certainly he will beat it at one time or another, so really many people will forget Flair even more.  Do I think that he is the best ever?  Well I think that he was very good, not just good but he is ONE of the best, but I have to say that he isn't the best ever.  Really the writers make stars win titles so the writers made Ric win the titles and set it as a record.  Ric is an astonishing athlete and a very great fighter but not the best.  I think that Kurt Angle is better, if not the best.  Look, he is an only Olympic gold medalist in professional wrestling history. That is something that no one else is.  That means he is the all time best, in my mind.  I don't want to make people mad or angry with my thoughts about this as I will talk about angle another time.  Ric Flair just retired this year and it was one moment that I will never forget. I saw his last match at Wresltemania and it was a very good performance that he gave.  In my mind, Ric is in the record books no doubt about it.  He is in the WWE hall of fame so simply that is worth something to the star that is in there.  Really Ric's time is over now.  I hate to see him go but he had his time and now the young stars have their chance.  No one will ever be A Ric Flair. Can anyone recreate his career? NO!  Can someone surpass his titles? YES!  But without a question in my mind, Ric Flair is like no other wrestler and there will not be another Ric Flair.  To be the man, you have to beat the man. Many people beat him, but none are or were him.  Ric had a tremendous career but it's time for the fans to move on and think back at all of the great times Ric Flair had succeeded.  That is all for "my thoughts" for today but please check back to my others and wait to see my others coming soon.  If you have any suggestions for a future "My thoughts" blog, then feel free to message me.  Anyway that is my thoughts on this topic, but what are yours?  Talk to you next time! WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

    A poem.

Friday, September 5, 2008, 10:48 PM GMT [General]

If I knew all the answers,
Then I’d be a very wealthy man.
    But I do not,
    And really,
I do not think I ever will.

    For life changes
Faster than a blink of the eye
    And it will not stop
    Or even offer the courtesy
    Of a pause
    For anyone.

    Days go by,
    A never-stopping
    Never interrupted flow
    Of time.
    Like an hour glass,
    Not made in China,
    That always is smooth.

    Our most precious moments
    Are like mangoes
    Or coconuts.
Or even papayas and passion fruit.
Sweet to savour while they last
    Always too be remembered.
    But never dwelt upon,
    No,
    For that would never
    For that could never do.

As time does not only heal wounds,
It blurs the lines of experiences good and bad
    And also
    Allows mould to grow
    On even the sweetest thought.

WHOA!??! IS NELLY DATING SOLANGE KNOWLES??

Friday, September 5, 2008, 04:47 PM CST [General]

     According to Mediatakeout.com

Ashanti - you may wanna keep an extra short leash on rapper Nelly. MediaTakeOut.com just caught wind that last weekend rapper Nelly and Solange Knowles reportedly "hung out". And who knows what they were doing. According to one of MediaTakeOut.com's well placed sources, Solange was in St. Louis last weekend promoting her new album and Nelly was in town with family. But the two managed to have a secret rendezvous last Sunday night. The insider explained, "Solange was only in town for one night and she made sure to give Nelly a call ... and then they hung out."

Of course, no one knows what happened when the two of them hung out. But given Nelly's reputation, the staff at MediaTakeOutcom can certainly guess...

USHER AND TAMEKA FOSTER DID NOT SEPARATE ... BUT TAMEKA IS PREGNANT!!

    According to Mediatakeout.com

Yesterday the streets were buzzing with a rumor that R&B singer Usher had separated from his wife Tameka Foster. Well, according to MediaTakeOut.com's extremely well placed source, the rumor is 100% untrue. Usher and Tameka are still together and are happier than ever - and anyone that knows them can attest to it. There are a lot of hate-filled people out there who want to see their marriage fail, but it's stronger than ever. An insider had more good news to report, they confirmed what MediaTakeOut.com reported months ago - that Tameka is currently pregnant with the couples second child together. The insider added, "Everyone's ecstatic about the new addition to their family."

You need more proof that the Raymond's are still together. Well yesterday a number of MediaTakeOut.com spies spotted Tameka cheering on her husband as he performed in New York at the NFL Kick-Off Pre Show. And according to our snoops, Usher and Tameka were laughing and joking around with each both before and after the set. Now that doesn't seem like a couple in trouble, does it.

    Last European Witch Exonerated

    By Patti Wigington, About.com: Paganism/Wicca

    http://paganwiccan.about.com/b/2008/08/29/last-european-witch-exonerated.htm?nl=1
Thanks to Dolores Stewart Riccio and a couple of others who forwarded me this story - Anna Goeldi, the last woman in Europe to be tried an executed as a witch, has been exonerated by a Swiss panel. Goeldi was beheaded in 1782 after she was accused of using witchcraft to make a girl "spit pins and convulse." Goeldi was a maidservant at the time, working in the home of a wealthy burgher, with whom she is believed to have had an affair. The government of the Swiss state of Glaus said in a statement that "the Protestant Church council, which conducted the trial, had no legal authority to do so." It was believed that the church council had decided ahead of time that Goeldi was guilty, even though this was at a time when most of the European witch craze had died down. A museum dedicated to Goeldi opened last year, and the Glaus government will be donating money towards an upcoming play based upon her life and death.

    LARRY KINNEBEW

Friday, September 5, 2008, 05:35 PM EST [General]

BEVERLY MAKES ONE HELL OF A PANCAKE!
Greetings from Oklahoma, where our hotel has yet to hear of this internet fad.  So I'm at a place called "Beverly's Pancake House," where not only have they heard of the internet, they make the finest pancake west of Cincinnati.  In fact they crack the top five.

    Top Five Pancakes
    5.  Sugar and Spice in Norwood...whispy thin.  Though the omelettes are the reason to go.
    4.  PJ's Pancakes in Princeton, NJ.  You have to put up with a throng of Ivy Leaguers, but it's a great place to crush some cakes after a night of drinking with snobs.
    3.  Beverly's.  Oklahoma City.  Thickest pancakes ever.  And served with a baseball sized heap of butter.  And the waitress is rooting for the Bearcats.
    2.  Fort Wright Family Restaurant...in you guessed it, Fort Wright!  Family owned joint with the best pancakes in Kentucky.
    1.  The Golden Nugget in Kettering.  Any UD grad knows what I'm talking about.  The original burned down, but the new one, just opened, holds up just as well.  I'm not a peanut butter guy, but the chocolate chip and peanut butter cakes are the ultimate hangover cure.

Anyway, how fun is this weekend?  The first real weekend of college football, my Bearcats with a chance for a signature win, and the NFL returns.  This is one of the top three or four weekends of the year.  For my purposes, toss is a huge Mets/Phils series (found a place with MLB Extra Innings for tonight) and my man Patrick Ewing in the hall, outside of Aurdina Patridge showing up at my hotel and doing a pole dance to Springsteen, I don;t know how this weekend gets any better.  Now, because I feel some obligation, some picks...

    UC/Oklahoma

I really don't believe in moral victories at this point in the program.  I'm here to see a win.  Granted, not likely, but the program has arrived to the point where losing by ten to a great team isn't enough.

That said, I'm not seeing it. They will cover (21.5 last I checked), I think, and I've talked to some people who cover the Big 12 closely who agree) there are chances within the Oklahomas secondary to make some plays.  And UC's wideouts can get open.  The big question is obviously Grutza and whether he can take advantage.  I think he can to the tune of 17-20 points.

If that's the case, the UC defense just isn't giving up enough for Oklahoma to cover.  The Sooners have a big, experienced offensive line, and Bradford will have time to make throws, but this Beacat defense is too fast to give up the kind of points many thinkt the Sooners will.

Still, this is a national championship caliber team, Stoops is nearly unbeatable at home (54-2), and Bradford has some great weapons,

    Oklahoma 31 UC 20

    Bengals/Ravens

If the 'Cats pull off the upset, I can't even tell you how awesome Sunday will be.  Even a Bengals loss couldn't ruin it.  I don't think we have to worry about that.

This game is not the foregone conclusion many think it is.  Is anything a foregone conclusion with this team?  Actually yes, but let's focus on this game.  It's Carson Palmer v. Joe Flacco.  I have no opinion of Joe Flacco.  The next Delaware Blue Hens game I see will be my firstt, but there is little chance I'm taking any rookie in their first game, no matter the opponent.

The line worries me, with a healthy Baltimore defense, Rex Ryan could throw everything he has at the Bengals and Daniel Coats.  With a beat up secondary though, he doesn't have the luxury of being able to do so.  It's gonna take a while for Carson/Chad/TJ/Ben, etc to click but they'll be able to do enough.

I like (like, not love) the Bengals D.  I don't like the lack of depth, and the safeties are suspect, but I like them.  And as much as we killed the tackling in preseason game one, it got better throughout the preseason.  They'll make tackles Sunday, and they'll get some coverage sacks.  Bengals win, but not by as much as some think.

    Bengals 20 Ravens 13

    There's Something I've Been Thinking

    Friday, September 5, 2008, 04:34 PM [General]

    There's Something I've Been Thinking
And I truly think It's So

    I like to Practice Yoga
But Not so much Tae Bo
I just don't think it really is
    a practice one can feel
Like the way you feel your Yoga
( or like walking in High heels)

    Because when I practice Walking
    In heels of Any height
    I can make it meditation
or a prayer in its own right

I can even add a little
    Tai Chi to My Yo-ga
Because it makes Me much more Present
    Like the practice of Doga
    (practicing Yoga With My Dog....)

    But What really matters most
    is just to breathe
    and just to Be
    Whether Practicing My Yoga
    or my Yoga-like Tai Chi

Or even just to stop each day
    And Breathe one moment out
    Because moments are for feeling
But if I take a different route
then I may end up obsessing
    over things that matter not
like what may have happened yesterday
    or that I haven't got
    a better felt connection
to myself and to my land
when all it would have taken
is a second and a hand
to feel my heart that's beating
like a boat upon the sea
    just like moments
    that are fleeting
    Take Some Time, My Friend
    And Be.

So I try it every morning
    I try to rest
    and try to breathe
before I get up out of bed
    and before
    I have to leave
and greet the day before Me
    the potential yet to be
a day that I can savor
    I think I'll Climb a tree...
